Last year I sourced a Volvo 740 Estate with 140,000 ​miles for £500. from Ebay Motors The car was in great condition, it needed several good cleans inside but the bodywork, engine and running gear were all good.
Importantly it had 8 months MOT and 2 months Tax. Just enough for the Rally. We strongly recommend that you acquire a vehicle with both Tax and MOT, it just keeps things simple.
If you decide to use EBay motors I suggest you use the filters to sort out the type of vehicle you want. Look at 1 day and 3 day auctions, maybe look at commercials, Taxi, Ambulances, and other unusual stuff.
We had a local firendly mechanic check the car over - no charge as it was for charity - and he got his supplier to donate the parts we needed (£100 worth) too.

It was always our intention to sell the car on our return so we used removabale stickers to decorate our car. Our Theme was "The Shropshire Lads" on Safari. Here you can see the car was themed as a Zebra and we dressed like Indiana Jones !!!
Others on the rally did lots more. There was a FireEngine, a couple of Hearses, A Tartan Limo, A New York Taxi, Bay Watch Babes and lots more. Just search on google images for Banger Rally and you will get some inspiration.

The banger rally car was sold for £500 - exactly what we paid for it - within a week!!!
We welcome any type of vehicle worth £500 or less. Once you have it you can spend as much or as little on it as you like! If you have something a bit different we can bend the rules. Call us and check if you like.
